Improving lactic acid production via bio-augmentation with acid-tolerant isolates from source-sorted organic household waste

چکیده

Biotransformation of source-sorted organic household waste (SSOHW) into lactic acid (LA) could be an attractive management approach, converting residual resources to the useful platform chemical and at same time minimizing pollution. However, nutritional content is not always optimal for inoculated bacteria (LAB) due complex composition SSOHW. In present study, autochthonous acid-tolerant LA strains were isolated from The used as bio-augmentation inoculum improving production More specifically, four isolates identified by sequencing Lactobacillus panis DTUAT 01, pontis 02, oris 03, reuteri 04, which efficiently convert glucose pH 4. Kinetic modeling was applied predict performances characteristics isolates, multi-response nonlinear regression analysis performed on experimental data determine kinetic parameters. estimated parameters indicated that strain L. had highest maximum growth rate (µmax) yield among along with relatively high substrate product tolerance. Finally, boosted concentration 29% compared abiotic augmentation (i.e., control test). Likewise, quickly adapt SSOHW shown elimination its lag phase. findings this work can contribute improvement fermentative wastes acidic conditions.

Identifying Conditions to Optimize Lactic Acid Production from Food Waste

RedCorn, Raymond M., M.S.E., Purdue University, December 2014. Identifying Conditions to Optimize Lactic Acid Production from Food Waste. Major Professor: Abigail Engelberth. There is an increased demand for lactic acid for the production of biopolymers and to aid nutrient removal in wastewater treatment. Food waste offers a source of soluble sugars to produce lactic acid, which does not increa...

Brewery Waste Reuse for Protease Production by Lactic
Acid Fermentation.

This study evaluated the use of three solid brewery wastes: brewer's spent grain, hot trub and residual brewer's yeast, as alternative media for the cultivation of lactic acid bacteria to evaluate their potential for proteolytic enzyme production. Initially, a mixture experimental design was used to evaluate the effect of each residue, as well as different mixtures (with the protein content set...

Utilization for lactic acid production with a new acid hydrolysis of ram horn waste.

The use of ram horn hydrolysate (RHH) as a substrate for lactic acid production was investigated using Lactobacillus casei. For this purpose, first RHH was produced. Ram horns were hydrolyzed by treating with acids (6N-H2SO4 and 6N-HCl) and neutralizing the solutions. The amounts of protein, nitrogen, ash, some minerals, total sugars, total lipids and amino acids of the RHH were determined. The...

l-(+)-Lactic acid production by Lactobacillus rhamnosus B103 from dairy industry waste

Lactic acid, which can be obtained through fermentation, is an interesting compound because it can be utilized in different fields, such as in the food, pharmaceutical and chemical industries as a bio-based molecule for bio-refinery. In addition, lactic acid has recently gained more interest due to the possibility of manufacturing poly(lactic acid), a green polymer that can replace petroleum-de...
